Talk About Jesus

Why Don’t I Talk About Jesus More?

“Come and see.” – John 1:39, 46
In John 1, nobody has to pressure Andrew to tell Simon about Jesus. Nobody has to guilt Philip into inviting Nathanael. They meet Jesus, and almost immediately they go find someone else.

No class. No script. Just encounter.

That contrast exposes something for many of us: we know about Jesus, but we haven’t recently experienced Jesus. We can explain doctrines, describe church programs, quote a few verses—but when it comes to sharing him, we feel empty or awkward.
You cannot share what you have not experienced.

The pattern in John 1 is simple:
  • Come and see – be with Jesus, encounter him.
  • Follow me – learn from him, obey him.
  • Go and tell – invite others to see what you have found.

We often try to start with “go and tell” without “come and see.” No wonder it feels forced.
The evangelism problem might really be an encounter problem.
Today, instead of trying to talk more about Jesus by sheer effort, start with his invitation: “Come and see.”

Take a few quiet minutes to:
  1. Ask honestly:
“Jesus, when was the last time you felt real to me? Help me remember.”
  2. Invite his presence:
“I don’t just want information about you; I want to know you. Meet me in your word and in prayer.”
  3. Offer your story:
Complete this simple sentence in your own words:
“There was a time in my life when ______, but Jesus ______.”

That’s your testimony. That’s what you can share.
As you rediscover the wonder of actually walking with Jesus—seeing answered prayer, feeling convicted, comforted, forgiven—talking about him will become less of a task and more of an overflow.
He still says to you today:
“Come and see… follow me.”
If you start there, the “go and tell” will follow.
